The key factor for success in outsourcing
Before entering with Celenia, GAC had tried to outsource projects once before. This turned out as a bad experience. “In this case we decided to make a very detailed specification of the task and then handed the project to an outsourcing company. They worked on it and returned it to us. The result was not what we and our customer expected,” explained Peter Bosch, Manager Products, GAC Business Solutions. Instead of blaming the supplier for an unsatisfactory delivery GAC decided to learn from this experience. “It was simply not the right way to utilize the potential of outsourcing Dynamics development projects and communication was hard due to the fact that the partners didn’t speak English very well,” Peter Bosch continued.
When the upgrade project of the logistic solution started, GAC decided to stay involved in all parts of the upgrade project. First step was that four people from GAC went to Kiev for 4 days to meet the people from the Celenia Development Center who were allocated for this project. During the meeting, Celenias team was introduced to the solution, GAC’s project approach and who GAC is in general. “Actually the most important thing is to know the “faces” behind the work in the project. Giving people at Celenia the feeling that they are really part of the team. Personal relations between the people involved in the project ensure much better quality in the partnership at the end,” says Peter Bosch.
Working with Celenia
Working with people from Celenia Partner Services team was a very positive experience. “Besides the quality of the work they delivered, that was very high, the most beneficial part of the partnership was that the people from Celenia were very proactive. They were empathic in relation to understand our business and came with ideas of how to improve the processes and the work in general,” describes Peter Bosch and continues: “In spite of the distance we experienced, the result of the project showed that people from both companies worked as one. Finally, we finished the upgrade project in July 2009 on schedule. The result was magnificent!”
