Celenia equals efficiency and competences
With three international development centres, Celenia Software has become a valuable development partner for Microsoft, Microsoft Dynamics resellers and ISVs. Companies that wish to expand, but lack development capacity or competences, will find the right partner in Celenia. According to PTV Swiss AG, the recipe for success includes specialist competences, flexibility and successful communication.

PTV Swiss, which specializes in logistic solutions for route planning and optimisation, was looking for a partner that not only offered access to developers, but could also offer the necessary Microsoft Dynamics AX know-how to integrate PTV Swiss’ ISV solution to Dynamics AX.

Celenia suited the profile to a T and the partnership commenced in January 2008. In October, the first successful end customer implementation of PTV’s solution on Dynamics AX was completed. Selecting Celenia as our development partner was one of the best decisions I’ve made,” said Rudolf Hänni, Managing Director of PTV Swiss.

Celenia’s team strives for problem solution and achievements
As you would expect, Mr. Hänni had a few reservations about an external team taking over the devevopment of the entire projetct. He was not particularly worried about communication problems, as PTV Swiss had previous experience in cooperation with external teams. However, the motivation of these partners was occasionally lacking. Celenia’s developers in Kiev surprised him with their dedication. “Celenia’s people work much more intensively, and the developers strive for problem solutions and achievements,” Mr. Hänni noted.

As for the economic aspect, PTV Swiss also bene-fited from the cooperation with Celenia in this respect. A previous attempt at integrating PTV’s solution to Dynamics AX failed because the partner was not able to allocate the necessary number of developers to the project, which became financially unfeasible due to the sluggish development.

Critical comments are the exception
Mr. Hänni considers himself rather critical. “And of course, a little friction is an inevitable part of a partnership,” he said. However, his experience with Celenia leaves little room for negative comments. Therefore, PTV Swiss hopes to expand the cooperation in two new directions; product deve-lopment and integrating PTV’s solution to additional platforms.

Olivier Bally, Project Manager at PTV Swiss, is also very satisfied with the collaboration with Celenia’s developers and emphasizes the team’s ability to familiarize themselves with a solution in difficult conditions. The development pace accelerated concurrently with the team’s increasing know-how levels. Mr. Bally used an issues tracking system with communication via email and by instant messenger/IP telephone and describes it as a positive experience. Tasks and problem solutions were efficiently exchanged thanks to successful communication, which was conducted in English.

Olivier Bally praises Celenia’s open, uncomplicated and, above all, solution-orientated work methods: “Celenia’s project framework provided the best possible basis for a successful cooperation and they have complied with all agreements, deadlines and other formalities.”

Mr. Bally concludes: “Celenia’s target-oriented performance is impressive. The employees identify with the company, work independently and endeavour to achieve high quality and timely delivery.”

Naturally, such high praise motivates Celenia to to further optimize work processes to continue ensuring positive experiences for partners collabo-rating with Celenia.

Victor Teslia, senior developer, Celenia Software: ”When we started, PTV Swiss already had a little code and documentation from an earlier attempt with another partner to integrate their solution with Dynamics AX. Therefore, our first task was to get an overview of the existing code and estimate how long it would take to develop the rest and provide PTV Swiss with the finished solution. Our mission was to satisfy expectations.”
